What are Aptamil Pre-Measured Tabs?

Aptamil First Infant Milk and Follow On Milk pre-measured tabs are a new format of formula milks launching as part of our Aptamil range. The tabs are made from air-compressed powder and are accurately measured so that each tab = 1 scoop of powder. Aptamil tabs are the UK’s first formula milks to be available in a tab format, parents no longer need a scoop to prepare a feed, they just add the tabs to cooled boiled water (please refer to full preparation instructions on product packaging).

What’s in the recipe / what formulation is it?

Our Aptamil pre-measured tabs contain all vitamins, minerals and nutrients required by the UK and EU legislation. Aptamil First Infant Milk and Follow On Milk Pre-Measured Tabs contain long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and our blend of long chain galacto-oligosaccharides and short chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scGOS/lcFOS).

What’s the difference between the Aptamil Pre-Measured Tabs recipes and the existing Aptamil First Infant Milk and Aptamil Follow On Milk with PronutraTM Advance?

The formulations used to make the tabs are slightly different from the formulations used in our existing Aptamil First Infant Milk and Aptamil Follow On Milk with PronutraTM Advance. Aptamil First Infant Milk and Aptamil Follow On Milk with PronutraTM Advance contain a fermented blend of ingredients however our new Aptamil pre-measured tabs do not.

This difference in formulations is due to the manufacturing process that is required to air compress the powder into tab format. It is not mandatory to ferment certain ingredients in formula milks. Please be assured that parents can safely use whichever non-specialised Aptamil Infant milk and Follow On milk that they have chosen to use alongside our tabs, as long as they are not mixed together in the same feeding bottle or beaker.

Are there any other brands in the UK that sell Pre-Measured Tabs?

Aptamil is the only formula milk brand to sell pre-measured air compressed formula milk tabs in the UK.

Where can parents buy Aptamil Pre-Measured Tabs?

Aptamil Follow On Milk pre-measured tabs will be available in Boots from 24th February 2021 whilst Aptamil First Infant Milk pre-measured tabs will be available from March. Parents will be able to purchase them in most Boots stores and online at Boots.com. Pre-measured tabs are currently not available to purchase from other retailers.

What products are in the range?

Aptamil pre-measured tabs are currently available in Stage 1 (First Infant Milk) and Stage 2 (Follow On Milk).

Can parents use Pre-Measured Tabs alongside their current powder formulations?

Parents can use our new Aptamil First Infant Milk and Follow On Milk pre-measured tabs alongside our current non-specialised powder formulations if the feeding advice is followed correctly, as per the feeding guide on the packaging. However, to ensure accurate preparation of a single feed, parents should not mix loose powder and tabs together in the same feed.

How can I obtain this product for professional evaluation?

We are very pleased to hear that you would like to evaluate our new Pre-Measured Tabs, unfortunately samples are not available, but the new Aptamil Follow On milk pre-measured tabs will be available in UK Boots stores from the 24th February 2021.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Breastfeeding is best. Infant milk is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. Follow-on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that the use of formula milks and the decision to start weaning should be made only on the advice of a doctor, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care based on baby’s individual needs. Keep out of reach of children.
