Your BMI is a helpful measurement and can be used as part of an assessment to see if you are at risk of undernutrition. It is not used on its own because it does not take into account weight that you have lost. So even if your BMI result is in the normal or above range, but you have lost weight recently without intending to, it is worth speaking to your healthcare professional.
