Neocate LCP is a palatable, powdered infant formula consisting of 100% free amino acids designed to meet all the nutritional requirements of an infant.
Neocate LCP is designed for the treatment of severe food allergy in infants aged 0-12 months. As milk is the first food that infants consume, they are at risk of developing Cow's Milk Protein Allergy. In the past, soy formulas were recommended for these infants. However, it is now known that up to 50% of infants exhibiting an allergic response to cow's milk also react to soy. Soy formulas are also not recommended for infants below the age of 6 months because of concerns about the effects of phytoestrogens.
Infants can exhibit some or all of these symptoms:
- Persistent diarrhoea and/or vomiting
- Poor weight gain and faltering growth
- Atopic Dermatitis
- Colic
- Bloody stools
- Reflux
Neocate products are elemental. This means that the ingredients in Neocate products are in their simplest and purest form so they are easier for the infant to process and digest. The Neocate range is based on 100% free amino acids. These are the building blocks of protein and, unlike formed whole proteins, do not cause allergic reactions Figure 1). Other feeds use whole proteins or whole protein fragments hydrolysates) which are made or derived from cow's milk or soy. These have the potential to bind and cause allergic inflammation.(Figure 2).

Neocate contains LCPs. LCPs are Long Chain Polyunsaturated fatty acids. These are vital for the healthy development of your baby's brain, eyes and nervous system. The levels of these important LCPs in Neocate LCP meet current guidance for formulae.
Symptoms should start to show improvement within about 2 weeks. For infants with more complex or severe symptoms this may take longer. NICE recommends a trial of elimination diet for 2-6 weeks in children with suspected non-IgE mediated food allergy
Neocate LCP can be used beyond 1 year if the product meets the
child's requirements. However Neocate Advance and Active are also
available for children beyond the age of 1.
