Nutricia supports Shaun in the City to raise money for children’s hospitals across the UK

Aug 20, 2014 - 04:26 PM

Giant sculptures of the animated character Shaun the Sheep, will be popping up in new pastures in two ‘baa-rilliant’ art trails to raise money for sick children.

Recently voted the nation’s all-time favourite BBC children’s TV character, Aardman Animations’ Shaun the Sheep will take centre-stage in Shaun in the City, a major public arts trail taking place in 2015.

Shaun in the City will feature 120 giant sheep sculptures decorated by celebrities and artists, herded on the streets of London and Bristol in a ‘trail of two cities’.

Each city trail will feature its own flock of 60 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures, decorated by celebrities and artists to create a vibrant city landscape of colourful and witty designs.

The hotly anticipated charity initiative from the team that created the award-winning Gromit Unleashed campaign in 2013, expects to see visitors from across the globe flocking to the ‘ewe-nique’ spectacle.

Shaun in the City will launch in London in March next year. The line-up of prestigious artists and celebrities will be revealed as the campaign unfolds.

The eight-week sheep trail will see sixty 5ft high sculptures springing up in key, central locations around the capital including the City of London, Westminster, Southbank and iconic tourist destinations.

After the London trail, a further trail of 60 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures will be displayed in Bristol during July and August.

Following both trails, in autumn 2015, the flocks will go on display to the general public, prior to a grand auction to raise money for sick children in hospitals across the UK.

‘Leaders of the Flock’ founding sponsors in London include Nutricia.

Nicola Masters, director at Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved with the world’s first Shaun in the City Trail, staged in the heart of the capital and designed to draw international attention and visitors from across the globe, whilst raising vital funds to support children in hospitals.” For more information, visit www.shauninthecity.org.uk
